Cunningham, Allan

poeta scozzese (Keir, Dumfriesshire, 1784-Londra 1842). Contribuì alle Literary Recreations (1807) di E. Roche con alcuni canti e inviò a R. H. Cromek false antiche ballate per i Remains of Nithsdale and Galloway Songs (1810). Pubblicò vari libri di poesie, tra cui Songs, Chiefly in the Rural Language of Scotland (1813; Canti, massimamente nel linguaggio rurale di Scozia) e Songs of Scotland, Ancient and Modern (1825), che lo inseriscono nel filone della poesia agreste scozzese, il cui massimo rappresentante è Burns. Fu anche autore di Lives of the Most Eminent British Painters, Sculptors and Architects (1829-33) e curò un'edizione di Burns (1834).
